shield The Shield
The shield is from Kenya and belongs to Ngugi wa Thiong'o. A shield both protects its bearer from the spears and arrows of outrageous fortune, and announces the affiliations of the person carrying it. Shields form a substratum in the prehistory of logos and brands by fashioning, presenting, and sheltering the identities of those who wield them.
